Field Log // It was a bumpy journey, but Betty rumbles up to the door of our mountain cabin no worse for wear. She rests in the meadow while we gather firewood and get the stove going. Location // Betty’s first winter weather test is imminent. We are headed up the High Road to Taos, to a cabin not far from the Carson National Forest. The sky is a gloomy cyan, and we listen intently for snow thunder in the distance. Betty hums along cheerily, unaware of the potential peril ahead. It is a blessing that we are well-stocked with provisions. The air is eerily still.
